  • Spiders

I know that normally I bemoan the fact that everyone seems to have decided that summer is over. However this morning when I came downstairs to a cool and misty morn I wasn't glum as I looked out my window at my little tree out back and there was a lovely display of spiders' webs, the type which normally you only see on a cold and frosty morn.

Now I know a lot of people dislike/fear spiders but I think they are great creatures and boy can they move fast! Why so many of them choose to live in the bath I find curious (yeah, yeah, I know come up the plughole) but I like to just remove them carefully as I really don't like to shower with them although I have been known to dry myself with one or two (the joy of being short sighted!).

My other half has a tendancy to remove them to the outdoors which to me is just plain stupid as obviously they are indoor spiders and how would he like it if he was just going about his daily business and some big blighter came and removed him to some far off cold/hot land when he was on his way back to his family/meal.

Anyway as long as they keep the flies out of my home they are welcome to stay with me as long as they like!

  • Peace Lily

Whilst I was on holiday my darling teenage son never watered my peace lily and consequently when I returned it was a very sorry looking sight and appeared dead. It was as you can imagine rather brown and dried up after spending two weeks on the window sill! My initial reaction was to put it in the bin but decided to chop all the dead bits away and wait and see.

Anyway I'm very pleased to say it's now fourishing and has several lovely new green leaves! Hurrah! :D

  • Still Summer

It's getting to that time again when the summer is apparently declared over and the kids return to school. Already the shops have decided winter is on the way and flip flops have been replaced by winter boots. Personally I still wake up in the morning expecting the sun to be out and the day still hot enough to not need a jacket and those that know me know I like the heat!

Whilst on holiday I got a BIG red fleece that has become to me as Linus' blanket, a great comforter! I was in a state of panic when my husband told me he'd put it in the tumble drier last week (he doesn't like it! The fleece that is)but fortunately for him it was still in it's same condition.

Anyway I'm still holding onto the idea that it's summer even though the nights are getting darker earlier but when you still get wonderful sunsets like there was the other night summer it will stay!

  • The Sun Returns But Thunder's Great

Hurray! Woke up this morning just after five to discover a lovely sky which got bluer as the morning went on B)

Isn't it funny how you can get so used to the warm sunshine and almost go into shock when it rains. Mind you I must say I did enjoy the rain the other night thundering down, nothing like a good old thunderstorm and hopefully lightening to go with it.

I love thunderstorms and the one we had a while back was truly magnificent. I sat for ages watching it, eagerly awaiting the next flash of lightening to see how many forked bits there would be. Such power! Sheer bliss! Easy pleased I guess but who cares it was brill :D

I mentioned to a friend the other week how I would love to be on a beach with massive waves, watching a thunder and lightening storm and they remarked how I'd best be careful just in case I was the tallest thing there and might be the lightening strike! Hadn't thought of that one just wanted to watch all that power combined - might need to wear my wellies then! :D
