Whilst I was on holiday my darling teenage son never watered my peace lily and consequently when I returned it was a very sorry looking sight and appeared dead. It was as you can imagine rather brown and dried up after spending two weeks on the window sill! My initial reaction was to put it in the bin but decided to chop all the dead bits away and wait and see.
Anyway I'm very pleased to say it's now fourishing and has several lovely new green leaves! Hurrah!

Sounds like my two and the lemon tree - wedding present which was left in their charge while we were on honeymoon - we came back to see a pot with a bunch of sticks in, it looked very much like it was dead, rather than giving up on it though I pruned it right back hard and fed it. Now after three months there is fruit set on it again, lets just hope the weather holds till it has grown so there is still some sun left to ripen it!
