For those who don't know Snozone has real snow although it's inside.

We duly arrived, later than planned but those who know my other half will find that as no surprise but at least it was still light outside!

I had thought toboggoning (sledging)would best be suited to a 9 year old and a 7 year old but of course they actually fancied a skiing lesson. However we were unable to get a lesson (not having booked)so toboggoning it was.

What a great time I had! Yes I know we were there for the kids but who was it that said you couldn't enjoy yourself in child orientated pursuits. Personally I thnk people just get too tied up in how to behave for "their age" and start to forget how to have fun. So what if you look silly, who cares.

The kids did enjoy it too even though they had a little squabble when snow was thrown but it's the best £10 I've spent (£10 per adult per half hour, £8 kids)for a great half hours entertainment when I didn't have to remember I was an adult and all that that entails.

She's recently moved from Arizona (although she is in fact German... Phew!). Anyway we had a lovely time chatting for 17 hours.

Of course Saturday was also the day that Scotland played France (or should I say beat France but we won't go into that :-) )and as such Glasgow was full of men in kilts. And what a variety there were of both. I was however only looking at the kilts! Some of the new modern ones (kilts I mean) are really good looking and it amazes me how easy they fit in with various shirts and t shirts. However it must be said trainers without socks do absolutely nothing for a kilt so guys please take note. Now chunky socks and boots they are a different matter as well as that nice open necked laced shirt (no not as in lace but as in laces that you do up or undo as the case may be) but please definitely no to trainers.

In these days of texting and emails I'm glad to say I'm still one of those old fashioned folk who enjoys writing and receiving letters and all the better if they are handwritten. Don't get me wrong, I text and email too and they are great for speed but sometimes it's just really nice to sit down and read a real letter and even to get out old ones and re read them (yes I'm guilty of that too and hoarding!

I've always been one for having penfriends from near and far and have been since my teens. Over the years I have made some lovely friends and also been fortunate to meet some of them. Unfortunately I have also lost a few too as letters get more infrequent and finally stop often the only reason being that life takes over the time you would normally spend writing.

I often wonder what some of them are doing so yesterday's arrival was doubly good as it answered that question and now of course gives me the opportunity to write back.

However this morning when I came downstairs to a cool and misty morn I wasn't glum as I looked out my window at my little tree out back and there was a lovely display of spiders' webs, the type which normally you only see on a cold and frosty morn.

Now I know a lot of people dislike/fear spiders but I think they are great creatures and boy can they move fast! Why so many of them choose to live in the bath I find curious (yeah, yeah, I know come up the plughole) but I like to just remove them carefully as I really don't like to shower with them although I have been known to dry myself with one or two (the joy of being short sighted!).

My other half has a tendancy to remove them to the outdoors which to me is just plain stupid as obviously they are indoor spiders and how would he like it if he was just going about his daily business and some big blighter came and removed him to some far off cold/hot land when he was on his way back to his family/meal.

Anyway as long as they keep the flies out of my home they are welcome to stay with me as long as they like!

Already the shops have decided winter is on the way and flip flops have been replaced by winter boots.
Whilst on holiday I got a BIG red fleece that has become to me as Linus' blanket, a great comforter! I was in a state of panic when my husband told me he'd put it in the tumble drier last week (he doesn't like it! Woke up this morning just after five to discover a lovely sky which got bluer as the morning went on

Isn't it funny how you can get so used to the warm sunshine and almost go into shock when it rains. Mind you I must say I did enjoy the rain the other night thundering down, nothing like a good old thunderstorm and hopefully lightening to go with it.

I love thunderstorms and the one we had a while back was truly magnificent. I sat for ages watching it, eagerly awaiting the next flash of lightening to see how many forked bits there would be. Such power! Sheer bliss! Easy pleased I guess but who cares it was brill

I mentioned to a friend the other week how I would love to be on a beach with massive waves, watching a thunder and lightening storm and they remarked how I'd best be careful just in case I was the tallest thing there and might be the lightening strike! Hadn't thought of that one just wanted to watch all that power combined - might need to wear my wellies then!

I had a wonderful time down in Holywell Bay doing not a lot and loving it. The sand, the sea, the sun and the surf (oh the surf)were absolutely wonderful.

I love the sea at the best of times but the waves there were amazing so much power and a joy to watch and go in. I found myself walking on the beach each morning and lucky for me I often got it to myself and had the sheer joy of that and going in the water at such an early hour. It's also a great place to think and reflect and sing out loud to your MP3 player cos no one can hear you! I also discovered the joy of body surfing (couldn't do the standy up bit!) being carried along by the waves and really think I could be a surf bum if I put my mind to it, lol!

Then of course there was the cream teas mmm, mmm, Cornish clotted cream, another joy. Oh and the stars, so clear in the sky without the hindrance of streetlights ah bliss.

Of course teenage son managed not to burn house down and think the cats might have had more fresh meat than usual although Daisy had slimmed a bit which hasn't done her any harm. Angus, as some people already know, had a wonderful time on his holidays with his aunty K and uncle P (and in fact i think he misses the bonding with uncle P)and I believe might have already rebooked his suite.

So holiday's over but the memories are still very fresh in my brain and I have the photos to look forward to.

Whilst I know he won't come to any harm I suppose there is still that fear that he may somehow manage to burn the place down with himself in it! Ok I'm being a bit melodramatic there but surely that's a mothers' privilege and if I really thought that would happen I wouldn't leave him.

He will I'm sure survive and what teenager ever starves? As for the cats they might have to go and do a bit of hunting as I'm sure he'll only feed them twice a day and not they're usual on demand. Thankfully though his elder sister lives close by so the moggies will get fed when she visits.

The other thing is the rise in the electricity consumption and the amount of things he'll omit to switch off (or in the case of the tumble dryer, use when the sun is splitting the sky and only put one thing in it!)before going to bed/going out.

I'm sure he'll have a whale of a time whilst we're away, the peace and quiet he'll enjoy will be sublime so maybe I'm doing th ewrong thing, maybe I should stay at home and let him go in my place. Can you imagine it, two whole weeks of the house to yourself. Hmmmmmm bliss!

It was a very pleasant surprise to walk on such a clean beach, not the beach I remembered all those years ago when you had to be careful what animal, vegetable or mineral you stood on!

I took great pleasure in walking along the sands, looking through the rock pools and of course padling in the sea which wasn't as cold as some may think. I love the water, being at the sea is an absolute joy to me regardless of season.

With me were my two youngest (9 & 6) but also my eldest at 22 and it was lovely to spend the day of fun with her too. We had a list of "treasure" to find, one of which was a crab (more points for a live one). We did indeed find the live one but after some deliberation we decided to forfeit the extra points and put it back into it's own wee world again and take a much dead one instead.

Later we had games on the beach and whilst we had a fun time, I also found it sad that some and probably most of the children didn't know how to play rounders, a game which I had grown up with and was always great for bringing everyone together no matter what age. Nevertheless I thoroughly enjoyed it and I'm sure everyone else did too, so good to laugh.

It had been a long time since I'd last done it but the enjoyment was still very much there albeit tinged with a bit of sadness as my old girl wasn't with me (or maybe she was).

It was wonderful walking through the shaded woods, looking upwards at the tall trees and going down to sit at the water, watching the birds flit about. Played Pooh sticks and watched some minnows swim about. So much peace and quiet and yet only 5 minutes away was the busy road. Isn't it wonderful how easy it is to get away from the hustle and bustle. As I came back to the busier area I was further surpised to see the tiniest of rabbits, quite oblivious to me, munching away on the grass and then another appeared. I stood and watched them for 10 minutes and then moved on. Maybe I'm just silly but I found this just lovely to watch (so much more satisfying I imagine than Big Brother - I'm one of those people who haven't watched any of them).

My dear old pup, yeah I know she was 14 but she still thought she was a pup, had finally reached the end of her long and I'd like to think happy life. We'd had a scare about 5 weeks ago and she pulled back from that but on Saturday morning when I came downstairs I could see she had had enough.

The poor old soul couldn't even manage to raise a wag of her tail and it took her a few minutes to even raise her head. Anyone who knows her would know that that's definitely not her. So discussions took place, phone calls made, more discussions and then it was up to me - isn't being an adult wonderful, you get to make the decisions.

To have kept her going would have been to keep her alive for all the wrong reasons, non of which would have given her any quality of life. So about eleven thirty a lovely lady vet and nurse came into our home and half an hour later my faithful companion who had been with me through births, death and every emotion I've ever had was gone.

There's now a big empty space (in more ways than one, who knows a small labrador?) but also lots of great memories of her from the eight week pup who timorously came home with me and a few days later was tumbling upside down with the cat to the wall eating, door eating, biker mice from mars eating (I think my son forgave her!), cat food stealer. We had some great walks and she loved the water especially the water with all the mud at the bottom , you can't beat the smell of a hot smelly dog as it dries in the car! Her hearing was incredible, she could hear a biscuit being unwrapped several hundred metres away. A great playmate for the kids and cushion for them too, also helped them see out the window (if they were too small to reach). Great listener, soaker up of tears, always there at the right time with just the right sentiment. No longer will I have that big neck to hug or those soft silky ears to stroke. All food will be safe and the door won't be opened 10 seconds after I've closed it. Feet will also be safe from being crushed as she loved to sleep on everyones feet.

Life just won't be the same again.

I know there will be some who will say it wasn't the strongest Baa Baa side but 66 - 19 is a pretty convincing win in anyone's book. The atmosphere was great and it was wonderful to see Scotland score try after try.

Next time it must be said though we will go better prepared and take a picnic. It was quite amusing to see tables set up at the back of cars and even some champagne (and this was before the match!)Amusing it may have been but the picnickers (sp?)merrily munched whilst the rest of us queued up for luke warm (but tasty)cheeseburgers!

It was a glorious night with the sun shinning brightly for most of the first half. Having seats 5 rows from the front was also wonderful. Anyone who's never been should go and drink in the atmosphere and like us have a wonderful night.

Just going to see the guys in the flesh (so to speak) and be part of all the stadium build up and the general atmosphere is enough to set me all a quiver!!!

Those who know me will not be surprised. It amazes me that the whole univesrse could've been created in seven days but here I am seven years, maybe more, and sill those little squares 6 by 6 or less can be such a source of consternation and yes, frustration too.

Is it too much to ask that my candle flames be allowed to flicker brightly off a beautiful surface instead of struggle to brighten a darkened corner - all of which makes for a warmer bathroom of course.
